The Lumix LX3 snaps St.Dominic's Church Macao

St. Dominic's church is one of three oldest churches in Macao. The church was built in 1587 by three Spanish Dominican priests. The church is now part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.It is now a Museum of Sacred Art.It's situated in the Largo de São Domingos near Leal Senado. You definitely can't miss it when you are in Macao.

Since the previous post was a bit about the FL36R flash, here's a shot i took with bounce flash. The puppies were just a week old and were sleeping in my hand. They were unbelievably cute and tiny!!

My LX3 Gear

Well, pictured here is my beloved LX3!Here is a pic of my gear together with the Olympus FL36R and the RICOH LC1 mod, credit to ianho.However I managed to get some nice round shaped tapes from Home-Fix for the LC1 for anti-vignetting.I have kept the setup fairly simple so that it's still easy to carry around. The flash works great during events, especially wedding receptions.And for those of you still wondering if the Oly FL36R has TTL...YES! it does!!but only when the flash is pointing forward. I use manual for bounce flash and its great!!As with any flash, rechargeable batteries works much better. Will be getting my hands on some Wireless Transmitters soon...will post more about it then!!cheers!!

Who is Eugene Kaspersky??

Eugene who?? Well I'm sure many of you don't know him by the name Eugene but I'm sure you heard of his work the Kaspersky Anti-Virus!!Born in the USSR, Evgeniy Valentinovich Kasperskiy(his russian name) is an information security specialist and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab since 1997.Now he is the CEO of the company and plans to expand the Kaspersky name worldwide like never before!! He even has partnered with Jackie Chan to fight Viruses!!You can see the ad here.

Anyway the great guy was in town(K.L. Malaysia) since the 14th of October and officiated the Kaspersky Protection show in Low Yat Plaza on the 16th.Having the CEO himself coming over to our part of the world promoting his products must mean a lot eh??At least you know that Jackie Chan is kicking up a storm inside your hard drive when you are using Kaspersky Anti-virus!!

Lumix LX3 2.1 Firmware is Up!!

What can I say... With all the hype surrounding the GF-1, the boys at Panasonic has not forgotten about little brother LX3!! All owners can head on to the Panasonic Japan Web and grab your 2.1 Firmware NOW!! There is so much updates on the new firmware it just makes the LX3 feel renewed!! There were instability issues with the 2.0 but Panasonic has released 2.1 with no hiccups. The list of new features are below. Arigato Gozaimashita!!Panasonic!!

Rua da Felicidade or "The Street of Happiness"(福隆新街) is located near the Senado Square in Macau. It was once a popular entertainment and red light district during the 1930s to 1940s. Walking through from the lower to the upper street, there's a feeling of nostalgia in how the street was during that time. It was a prominent place where casinos, brothels and restaurants were patronized by rich tycoons of that era. Today, it's a Macau heritage and a nice tourist attraction.

The Lumix LX3 snaps Food 03 ^Akane Tokyo Dining, Sri Hartamas'

Well, Akane serves Western food in Japanese Style. For those who do not understand the roots of such cooking, its actually called yōshoku (洋食) or seiyōshoku (西洋食) which is western influenced cooking that originated during the Meiji Restoration period in Japan in the late 19th Century.

If you have been to Japan, you should be familiar with such cooking as they are found almost everywhere. Popular dishes include Omu-rice (Omelette Rice), Ton-katsu (Breaded & Deep Fried Pork) and Kaki-Furai (Fried Oyster). Spaghetti, Hamburg Steak and Korokke(Croquette) are also among the popular yōshoku. All the food mentioned is served at Akane.

Part of the Specialty of the Omu-rice is the process of making the Sauce and how it is poured over the 'Egg wrapped with Rice'. The Demi-glace sauce takes meticulous skill and effort to be made and not often found with such quality in K.L.

The photos above are of the Katsu Curry Rice & Omu rice with Kaki Furai Set. Akane remains the ONLY place that I have eaten yōshoku similar to Tokyo. Chef Shiomi's menu is full of food that reminds me of my times in Tokyo.

Alas, it's a love or hate affair...not everyone can understand the culture of such cooking but if you are willing to give it a try, u might be surprised. The place itself makes you feel like you are in Japan as 90% of it's customers are Japanese. As always...different people, different tastes...Enjoy!!

As from early on the local and international press were covering the story as it unfolds. The RELA was there to coordinate things and made sure evrything was under control. After talking a lot and hanging around, most of the guys were really tired.Surprisingly not much of them were sleeping!!A few went back to their cars to get some shut eye while the rest who just couldn't take it anymore laid down and chilled out. Finally morning arrives, some did some excercise playing some street football while for others, breakfast is served and in no time it was 10+am. It was dark, it was breezy but for all those who were there since 8pm the night before till daybreak would know what I am talking about. To the guys who were there....I just want to say R.E.S.P.E.C.T!!Because you guys made an effort to be there and living up to the hype for the Malaysian Streetwear Scene. Wow wow....we are really spoilt for choices when it comes to food in Bangsar. However, on a nice sunny day, we decided to do lunch at a cosy restaurant in Bangsar Village 1( the old wing) called the Basil Thai Nudle Bar. Armed with the Lumix LX3...here's the pix of what we ate that day...In my opinion great food in 'reasonable prices' as the portions are quite large plus don't forget that you ARE in Bangsar. In my opinion for food recommendations...well, what I like may not be what you like...so I say give it a try!!I thought it was great!! will be back....

Lumix LX3 snaps JUICE KL Opening Series 01

Alright. Something BIG is going to happen on Saturday,20th of June 2009 at a place called Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur. The opening of JUICE KL could change the street wear scene in Malaysia and definitely is a milestone. Great Praise and Respect goes out to the crew in K.L that made it happen. Well with JUICE KL, CLOT is officially in KL and the CLOT crew will be here for the opening too. That means Mr.Kevin Poon and Edison Chen and good friend Sam Lee will be here to officiate things.

Had a short chat with the MAIN MAN in KL as well and he was really optimistic about the whole thing...He said "Something needs to happen in KL, We've got not much going here...and hence the JUICE project KL!"...totally agree with the man...and yes! Bangsar IS a great place to be!!

Here's the preview of the opening when I witnessed the putting up of the neon sign as I went to check out the location on the recce. The pictures above are shot in colour and photoshopped to B&W this time around. The Levels are adjusted and Adjustment Layers used to bring out the JUICE logo.

Alright... Was out and about and found this really nice abandoned wooden house to try out some B&W shots. All shot with The LUMIX LX3's Dynamic B&W Mode in Aperture Priority. Most of the shots are shot between f2.0 and f4.0 at shutter speeds ranging from 1/400s to 1/1000s.All at ISO 80. If any of you need the specific detail of any pics below, let me know and I will post it up. This is the biggest series of ictures yet!so...ENJOY!!

OK guys...let's start with the basics here...for those that do not know what the LUMIX LX3 is, well you are missing out in taking a lot of nice pictures!!

Heres the Quick Lowdown!!

The Lumix LX3 is a 10.1 Megapixel Camera made by Panasonic.
The Lens is made by Leica, one of the best lens makers in the world.
It has a wide angle lens of 24mm and zooms to 60mm(35mm equivalent).OK so it doesn't zoom that far but for a Point & Shoot(P&S)...you don't really need to...and that's my opinion.
It has a F2.0 aperture lens, which means you get great quality pictures in Low Light AND shallow depth of field pictures that are identical to DSLRs!!
It is a semi Manual camera, which means you have many more options to play with than your general P&S camera.
You can Manual focus with the camera
You can select Aspect ratios of 4:3(TV),3:2(Prints) or 16:9(widescreen)
Record HD Movies!!
A sharp large 3.0" screen that lets you view in greatness!!
and many more.....

so....If you are an enthusiastic Photographer...this is a great camera choice for you!!
